Rules rules and more rules...

Our important classroom rules are:
1) listen when others are talking. This means that whomever has a turn to talk, everybody else must listen to that person. This includes when the teacher is talking.
2) use a quiet voice inside. This becomes very important during table work time. I work with a small group and I need to be able to hear the students in the small group.  This also includes not making noises and disturbing others who are trying to work.
3) follow directions quickly. I expect students to follow directions the first time they are given. If I ask a student to put away their things, I expect them to do so immediately.
4) use everything the right way. We use all items in the classroom the way they were intended to be used. We use glue on paper, not in our mouths. Pencils are not used for drumming. Scissors cut paper only. You get my point.
5) never hurt anyone on the inside or the outside and keep your dear teacher happy. This means we are careful with our words. No one is allowed to say "you aren't my friend" or "you can't play" or other mean things that hurt a persons feelings and make them feel unwanted.  We keep our hands and feet to ourselves.  No hitting, pushing, kicking, biting, etc. These kinds of violations get you a visit to the principal's office.  And keeping the teacher happy includes following all these rules plus participating in our activities such as singing, movement, PE , art, etc.
Please help your child by reviewing the rules with him/her often. Praise you child for a job well done and be disappointed in a job poorly done. I appreciate your support and offers to help. Write me a note if you can come in in September to help or if you want take home things to do.
Reminder: Book Boxes are due August 15th.
